Standing United
In recent weeks, Canadians have watched with growing concern as President Trump threatened to impose a 25% tariff on Canadian goods. The potential impact of these tariffs is serious—countless jobs at risk, a disrupted economy, and the looming possibility of a recession. The goal behind these tariffs was clear: to undermine our sovereignty, weaken our economy, and damage our standing on the global stage.

*****Our response *****

Let us be clear, nothing we have seen has shown to be undermining our sovereignty.  It is about America protecting their industries and creating fair competition

Though these tariffs have been temporarily paused, we must remember that this is merely a delay, not a resolution. This momentary relief provides some breathing room, but it also gives the U.S. time to prepare. The uncertainty continues to weigh heavily on our economy, and we cannot afford to lose sight of the bigger picture.

*****Our response *****

If your response is the uncertainty weighing heavily on our economy, why are you still voting against a non confidence vote?  Let Canadians vote who they have trust in to negotiate with the Americans.

What has been particularly inspiring throughout this challenge is the swift and unified response from Canadians. We are known for our politeness, but when confronted with bullying, we do not back down. While the tariffs may be on hold for now, it is crucial for us to continue standing strong and rally together. We must vote with our dollars, supporting Canadian businesses and workers in every way possible.

*****Our response *****

Should we include the video of your boss Jagmeet Singh using words like bully and troll when describing an elected President of the United States?  I find this type of behaviour something you would see in a school playground.  Canadians deserve better.  The NDP has 24 seats, you do not have a majority, you criticize the Liberal party but you partner with them?

Jagmeet Singh pulls NDP out of deal with Trudeau Liberals, takes aim at Poilievre Conservatives

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has pulled his party out of the supply-and-confidence agreement that had been helping keep Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s minority Liberals in power.

In a video posted on social media Wednesday, Singh announced he’s decided to cut ties with the governing party ahead of the fall sitting of Parliament because he thinks the Liberals are “too weak” and “too selfish” to fight for the middle class and stop the Conservatives.  But Singh has voted three times against a non confidence vote.

The NDP has put forward a clear plan to safeguard Canadian jobs and strengthen our economy. Our Build Canadian, Buy Canadian plan prioritizes Canadian companies, unionized workforces, and Canadian-made materials for publicly funded projects. We will ensure Canadian workers have priority for federal procurement contracts, and we will incentivize industries that foster self-reliance, reducing our dependence on external sources. You can read more about our plan here.

*****Our response *****

We should have ALWAYS been looking out for Canadians.  Especially in the auto industry.  But you have not saved companies that can no longer compete with China.  You push unionized workforces, but do NOT promote small tool shops, or any other small business.  Did you just say Canadian made materials that are PUBLICLY FUNDED PROJECTS??   Ensure Canadian workers have priority?  How many Canadians will get jobs at the new tax payer EV battery plant?

Donald Trump’s actions have shaken the foundation of the Canada-U.S. relationship, altering the nature of our bond at every level. But perhaps the most striking impact is on a personal level. With our close proximity to the U.S., Windsor shares an enduring connection with our American neighbours. Whether for work, a game, a concert, or a weekend shopping trip, we flow back and forth across the river. This relationship has always been built on friendship, family, and community.

*****Our response *****

Our relationship will not be divided by politicians or tariffs.  The plunging dollar would be a contributing factor on choosing the USA as a destination for vacation or shopping though.

Yet, as these tides shift, I can’t help but feel conflicted. It’s difficult to shake the feeling that many Americans have given him and his party the mandate to attack us. I am upset by the toll this is taking on Canadians—especially those already struggling to make ends meet. How will they cope with higher costs, on top of everything else? Their fear and anger are completely justified, and I share their concerns.

*****Our response *****

Fear, anger, coping with higher costs?  We are angry that the NDP continue to support the Liberals for their own selfish reasons.  This is what Canadians are angry about.  Long before the tariffs came.  You said:

It’s difficult to shake the feeling that many Americans have given him and his party the mandate to attack us.

Now you are blaming American voters?  It was a majority vote, something you would not understand as a party that always comes in third.

Despite these challenges, I remain hopeful. Throughout our history, Canadians have always found ways to support one another, whether through shared struggles or moments of celebration. We can—and we will—do so again.

Looking ahead, we need to focus on breaking down interprovincial trade barriers, ensuring permanent support for Canadian businesses, and most importantly, sharing with our American friends the damage being done to their strongest ally in the north. If we continue to stand together, as we always have, we will find a way through this.

Together, we will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger than ever. Let’s stay united, stay resilient, and keep working to build a brighter future for Canada.

Yours truly,

Brian Masse, M.P.

If you are truly concerned about Canadians, concerned about our struggle to make ends meet, our fear and anger, you will do the right thing.  Vote yes to a non confidence vote and let the people of Windsor West decide WHO will be the new MP for Windsor West.  A party that will get a majority win who will have more leverage in negotiating the tariffs
